Chapter 4 - Human Rights Violations

This chapter illustrates the human rights violations that took place in the ABSDF – Northern during the period of 1991-1992.


The Truth and Justice Committee analyzed data collected from interviews to determine if it  amounted to human rights violation under definitions set out by international human rights law.

The Committee focused on two major human rights violations that were committed during the whole course of the incidents: Extrajudicial Killings and Torture.  The extensive details of each violation with first-hand accounts of the survivors, and  witnesses and the other involved are presented below.

The Committee in no way concludes that other rights were not violated in the course of the 1991-1992 incidents. It is our sincere regret that other violations may or may not have been committed.
